If the presidential transition goes smoothly, cryptocurrencies are the only investment vehicle volatile enough to double in a year. If the transition doesn’t occur then buy gold and get the hell out of the country. Not necessarily in that order.

I wouldn't do anything at all. I would use the perceived security of an "extra" $100k available to make slightly bolder moves all year, which could easily result in an extra $100k generated.
The problem with the question is the scale. It is easier to earn an extra $100k than it is take $100k and gamble with it to earn 2x the return. If you said, "I'll give you $2MM, then how would you double that in a year", the question would be different. Simply because I don't have a good way to earn $2MM in 1 year.
